Help is one thing that is hard for many of us to ask. The good news there is plenty of it out there just for the asking.
Beyond our family and friends who sometimes we wish would stop helping, there are a lot of people out there willing to help. Former co-workers and others in our networks are willing to help. We just need to ask. The really cool thing is that there are total strangers willing to help you cope with losing your job, help you get by while you are looking and even help you get that new job.
Along with the joy of meeting new people, it us just amazing how many people are willing to help you. You just need to know what help you need and be willing to ask. While you can ask for a job, most people don’t have them to give. Most often what we need is advice, information or a connection. Since most everyone knows someone who is looking for a job right now, most people will go out of their way to give you the help you ask for if they can.
If you are needing help and don’t know who to ask there are tons of church based groups that don’t care what you believe that want to help and many of them have services equal to or better than any outplacement firm.
At the end of the day, you can have all of this joy you can handle if you can learn to ask for it.
